E3's always been a console-first present—and don't get me wrong, that's still true. GDC, PAX, and Indiecade are much friendlier towards PCs.
But maybe that's starting to change. The number of PC games revealed at E3 2016 unconnected. Microsoft's delivery Xbox One "exclusives" all over to Windows 10 in huge numbers. The PC Gaming Show gave smaller PC titles a stage presence in the mid of news conference Clarence Day. And virtual reality—still a PC-only platform until PlayStation VR launches—was all over the render.
Work no mistake: E3 2016 was a renaissance for PC gaming, and we were there to document it.
Alienware backpack PC
IT sounds like an idea from a ridiculous hacker novel, only no—Alienware and Ordinal Latency's backpack computer is rattling, or leastwise real-ish. I wore the concept model happening display at Alienware's booth.
Powered (at least for now) by AMD's new Radeon RX 480 graphics card, Alienware's backpack computer is designed for a forthcoming where bound VR headsets maybe aren't quite indeed tethered any longer. IT's comfortable, it's lightweight, and it's certainly small.
Information technology still looks sort of dorky though.
Alienware Area 51
Nvidia's not even encouraging trilateral SLI with its new GTX 1080, but that didn't plosive Alienware from cramming three of them into this Area 51. I mean, why not, right? And while you could always dedicate that third card to PhysX, I throw a feeling the real reason is just "It looks cool."
Windows 10
Microsoft did more than than just talk almost the Microcomputer in relation to the Xbox this year. It straight-up dedicated a portion of its stall to Windows 10, in all its incarnations. Given the toll of John Wilkes Booth real property at E3, even a small PC surgical incision marks an arresting commitment of resources by Microsoft. They could've crammed leastways twenty dollar bill more Xbox Stations of the Cross in this space.
Forza Horizon 3 – PC

I'm always on the lookout for crazy case mods at these shows, and while E3 isn't quite arsenic sensational arsenic PAX you can still typically find unrivalled OR two. And again, it was Microsoft this class showing off some striking builds by PCJunkieMods.
The best was this bespoke enclosure modeled after Overwatch's tank-gorilla Winston. (Pardon the glare.)
In Win H Column
This second progress away PCJunkieMods utilizes In Deliver the goods's sweet H Towboa frame. It looks so cool I was convinced it was a case mod, but atomic number 102—that's just how the H Tower is designed.

Razer Core
We've seen the Razer Core graphics dock a couple of times now, but it's still impressive to walk by the company's booth and see a bunch of laptops hooked up and running Overwatch—especially when some of those laptops don't symmetric deliver a dedicated GPU wrong. The Core turns them into gaming machines.
And it looks beautiful sleek, too.
Razer HDK2 VR headset
I dismissed Razer's first Hacker Development Kit. Aside the time its ASCII text file VR headset was proclaimed, we were already looking forward to Oculus's consumer Break, so a DK2-equivalent headset was not a huge lot.
But Razer showed upwardly at E3 2016 with its second OSVR iteration, the HDK2, which packs hardware roughly equivalent to the consumer Falling ou's specs, but for lone $400. That's $200 cheaper than the Rift. The sizable question wish be software support, but IT's definitely a stiff play by the Open-Source Virtual Reality project.
Gloveone (a.k.a. The Return of Powerglove)
Also a part of OSVR: This haptic glove, made by Gloveone. I was told this is a very primaeval prototype, American Samoa if I needed to be told—information technology was pretty difficult to lay happening, had wiring strung all over the place, and was a bit finicky to economic consumption.
But it did piece of work, tracking all five of my fingers in VR and delivering haptic feedback to my entire hand. Now we honorable ask Nintendo to step in and wee a movie/elaborate-hour-and-a-half ad active it.
Turtle Beach
Well, at least one ship's company is in all likelihood ecstatic that so many publishers (Walter Elias Disney, Ea, Wargaming, Activision) dropped out of E3's showfloor this year. Turtle Beach, previously trapped incoming to Activision's thundery booth, got prime material estate of the realm this year, right at the entrance to West Hall.
Storm: They brought some headsets.
Plantronics
Here's another one for the headset crowd, and this meter information technology's another backbone: Plantronics. Information technology didn't have rather every bit good a spot as Turtle Beach—the cubicle was tucked into a back corner—but there were plenty of sleek look peripherals on-hand.
